CUT OUT SHOW
Olly Moss is awesome. When I was spending a lot of time around Threadless he was one of the other dudes spending a lot of time around Threadless. And while I never had any sort of communication with him like I have other remarkably successful/mega-talented artist who were hanging around I do feel like I “know” him because of that extended shared experience. Even though I totally do not.
During that time I was printed at Threadless once. Moss, like, 11 times. So. You know someone gets a show in LA, and I get…a webcomic very people read.
I think I read somewhere that this show sold out in 3 hours. Seeing stuff like that Bruce Willis (to me) it’s pretty clear why. It’s all very simple, direct, nostalgic, clean. Which I think is more or less his MO. I really, really wonder what the prices were.
For the past 6 months I have been making paper-cut silhouettes of my favourite pop culture icons. They were displayed in an exhibition at Gallery 1988 that opened on May 7th and will run for around three weeks. Here are some photos of the show and some more of the process:
